Prednisone is a drug from the group of glucocorticoids (adrenal cortical hormones). It includes the eponymous substance of prednisolone.

The principle of action of Prednisolone
Prednisone is one of the most active drugs of this group. The main effects of the drug on the human body include anti-inflammatory, analgesic, decongestant and anti-toxic ones. Also, the drug potentiates the action of other medicines prescribed for the treatment of diseases of the spine.
Such properties of the drug are related to the fact that it affects the hormone-receptor compounds, enters the nucleus of cells, reduces the production of certain enzymes and other chemical compounds.

The drug is used inside, and washed out with liquid. The first dose is usually 20-30 mg per reception 1 times a day. A maintaining dose is usually 5-10 mg per day. The maximum daily dose is 100 mg. The duration of treatment depends on the patient’s condition and is selected strictly individually. You may reduce the dose of the drug only gradually, over several days or weeks.
Children are prescribed 1 mg of the drug per each kg of weight per day, divided into 4-6 receptions. A maintaining dose is usually 300-600 mg per kg of weight of the baby per day.
