The School Nurse Advocate

Members receive by e-mail or snail-mail a quarterly subscription to The School Nurse Advocate. This quarterly publication keeps North Carolina school nurses informed about news, legislation, continuing education opportunities, and events related to school health.

Continuing Education Programs

Members are offered regional Continuing Education Programs on topics pertinent to school nursing.

Marilyn H. Asay Scholarship

Purpose: SNANC has established the Marilyn H. Asay Scholarship for School Nurse Leadership. The purpose is to enhance the clinical practice and leadership skills of school nurses in North Carolina through ongoing education to maximize the health and well being of the state's school age children and adolescents.

Recognition

Members are eligible to receive the School Nurse of the Year Award and the School Nurse Administrator of the Year, presented annually by SNANC.

Business Meetings

Members are eligible to attend SNANC regional and state business meetings. These meetings provide networking opportunities, information on clinical, legal, legislative, and ethical issues facing North Carolina school nurses.

Leadership and Professional Growth

Members have opportunities for leadership and professional growth in SNANC. Interested members can become regional and/or state officers as well as committee leaders. Members are encouraged to write articles for The School Nurse Advocate and to make presentations at SNANC conferences.

Representation

Member's concerns are voiced through SNANC's officers to DPI, the state legislature, NCNA, as well as through SNANC's affiliation with the National Association of School Nurses.

Advocacy

SNANC supports a lobbyist at the Legislature. SNANC's lobbyist works long hours keeping SNANC's membership informed of legislation that impacts school nursing practice.
