Second Annual School Nurse Day at the Legislature

February 12, 2009
9 am until 3 pm

Location: Legislative Building, third floor Meeting room
The School Nurse Association of North Carolina will hold its second school nurse day at the legislature on this date. We have moved it up from July this year to accommodate the budget issues that will be addressed to assure that current school nurse positions remain in the upcoming budget. Of course we would like to have additional positions and will continue to educate the legislators on the need for same, however knowing that budget cuts are inevitable, we need to be visible early to assure that we "keep what we have".

Last year our numbers of school nurses present on the 7/1 date were smaller than expected. We hope that since this date will not be during holiday time we can have at least 100 school nurses present. We would also like to continue the tradition of having"hero's board" with stories of student's lives saved and/or significant improvement in health status and school attendance based on nursing input. Please forward those stories to me. We would like to have the nurse and student present that day to meet with legislators and the press. I feel that stories like this have the most impact on the members and hopefully will gain more press attention.

Please consider taking the time to be present on this important day.
